All Whom It Should Concern
Not many of us ever have the opportunity to save a life, free an innocent man or provide justice for all people regardless of race, gender, or religious beliefs. You now, and at once, have that opportunity. Please, take advantage of that opportunity, answer the prayers and pleas of millions of Americans and people the world over. Please advocate Executive Clemency for Mr. Leonard Peltier.
I ask that you no longer ignore the voices of the millions, the millions of signatures and letters of the last twenty-three years, not to mention the results of the most recent polls in favor Executive Clemency for Mr. Leonard Peltier.
Mr. Peltier was wrongfully convicted for the June 26, 1975, murders of 2 FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
At this late date I am sure you are well apprised of the vast mountains of evidence that clearly indicates that Leonard Peltier is innocent of the crimes he was wrongly convicted of. I am sure you are aware of the many FBI and judicial errors ... even blatant misconduct that led to these wrongful convictions.
During a parole hearing in December 1995, US prosecutor Lynn Crooks admitted again that no evidence exists against Peltier. He further stated that if Peltier were retried, the government could not re convict. You have received letters from the Eighth circuit recommending Peltier be released through Executive Clemency declaring that "the FBI used improper tactics in securing Peltier's extradition from Canada and in otherwise investigating and trying the Peltier case."
